In Malaysia, Industrial Design registrations are governed by the Industrial Design Act 1996 and Industrial Design Regulation 1999. Under this Act, the owner of a registered design is given the exclusive right to make, import, sell or hire out any articles to which the design has been applied, as well as the power to give or withhold consent from other parties who want to use the design.
