With 18 years of practical IP management experience, Solomon spearheads the direction of the Intellect Group to make sure that it is constantly on the forefront of meeting the Intellectual Property consultation needs of the business community.
A registered Trademark agent with an MBA from the University of South Australia, his natural foresight and business acumen saw him specializing in wholistic IP management soon after the beginning of his career. In 1993, he founded the Intellect Group that went on to conquer a 70 percent market share in Northern Malaysia – providing IP consultation in trademark, patent, copyright and industrial design matters.
An inspiring leader with a strong visionary approach, knowing the IP industry inside out enables him to lead the Intellect Team to provide IP solutions with sound legal, technical and business sensibilities and foresight.
Solomon can be found in the Shanghai Business Magazine every month, sharing his thoughts on Intellectual Property issues in his personal column. As he continues to lead the Intellect Group in its current regional expansion, he also makes time for his charity work as an active Lion, while throwing in some vigorous laps at the pool!
Joanne co-founded the Intellect Group with Solomon, bringing with her operational and administrative background thanks to her Bachelor of Public Administration honors degree from UUM.
Also an IP professional, Joanne is a Registered Trademark as well as Industrial Design Agent. With more than 15 years of experience in the field, she has the technical and procedural know-how of trademark, industrial design, copyright and patent at her fingertips. Joanne’s strength lies in overseeing the operations of the Intellect Group – making sure that the services delivered are technically accurate, timely and cost-effective.
In addition to that, she also possesses a holistic understanding of the IP industry, making her an indispensable advisor for franchising, licensing and other business expansion matters. Joanne is also a member of the Malaysian Association of Creativity and Innovation (Macri) and the Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA), in addition to being a nationally-recognized IP professional.
In 2004, she was the Malaysian representative to a Japan Patent Office Intellectual Property course conducted in Japan as a result of a nomination by the Ministry of Trade and Consumer Affairs.
Legal Advisor and Registered Patent Agent
Janet Lim is a Registered Patent Agent and Registered Trade Mark Agent with the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO), an agency under the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Co- operatives and Consumerism. This certification as a Patent Agent enables her to assist inventors in Patent applications at MyIPO whilst the certification as a Registered Trade Mark Agent enables her to assist clients in Trade Mark applications and to conduct searches at MyIPO.
In the field of patent, Janet has many years of experience in advising inventors on protection of their innovations and creations. She is also an experienced and able drafter and has drafted numerous patent specifications, many of which have been accorded grant of patent by the relevant body in Malaysia as well as in other countries. She has drafted patent specifications for government agencies such as MIMOS, higher learning institutions such as Universiti Teknologi Petronas, multinational companies such as Renesas Semiconductor Design (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd; public listed companies such as Vitrox Corporation Berhad and Spritzer Group to name a few and numerous small medium industries and enterprises. Janet graduated with LLB (Hons) in 1996. By virtue of her legal training, she is able to fully comprehend the provisions of the Malaysian Patents Act 1983 and Regulations and draft patent specifications with the provisions and regulations in mind. She is also able to provide added service, on a case to case basis, in advising on the legal aspects of infringement and hence assists clients in making an informed decision on whether to proceed to file the patent or not.

Dr. Manju Sarkar is our technical expert in the fields of semiconductors and integrated circuits, electrical, electronics, mechanical, information technology (IT), artificial intelligence (AI), limited areas of chemical, bioengineering and the like. The areas of integrated circuits include fabrication process, device, equipment, facilities and packaging.
Manju has extensive knowledge and experience in the field of patents.
Manju possesses qualifications in physics, materials science (semiconductors) and microelectronics. Manju holds her PhD degree in Microelectronics. Manju has long term experience in the industry of semiconductors including in Chartered Semiconductor Mfg Ltd, Singapore (currently named as GlobalFoundries).
Manju is an inventor/ joint inventor for several patents under Chartered Semiconductor Mfg Ltd. Manju has several technical publications in reputed international journals.
Manju also holds the Graduate Certificate in Intellectual Property (GCIP) under the National University of Singapore and IP Academy, Singapore.

Kevin is an Associate Partner of Intellect, who holds an honours degree in Chemical Engineering and MBA qualification and he is in the pursuance of doctorate degree in business. He has extensive working experiences and exposures with multinational corporations in the field of palm oil industry, chemical industry and consumer goods industry and etc. These credentials have accredited him the skills and knowledge in drafting inventions’ specification concerning these technologies as well as assisting and providing strategies to client in intellectual property commercialization.

Adelyn Chin a highly commercial retail expert with an honours law degree from University of London. Having 10 solid years in large retail global business, Adelyn’s expertise includes optimising sales growth, delivering strong operational excellence, optimising commercial performance and designing service models to support different business and strategies.

Teoh Soo Voon

Soo Voon graduated with Honours degree in Science, majoring in Biology. She practices in a variety of technical areas including medical devices, semiconductor, biotechnology, biochemistry, molecular biology and genetics, chemical engineering, and natural products chemistry. She has drafted and prosecuted numerous patent applications in a vast range of technologies.
As a Patent Consultant, Soo Voon has extensive experience in managing and providing one-stop consultancy in regards to Patent and Industrial Design matters, both domestically and internationally for public listed companies such as Mi Technovation Berhad and Vitrox Corporation Berhad; government agencies such as Fisheries Research Institute, MIMOS, Sarawak Multimedia Authority, Politeknik Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah (POLIMAS), Politeknik Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin (PTSS), Politeknik Ungku Omar (PUO); and higher learning institutions such as Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), and Swinburne University of Technology.

Ng Zi Yu
Senior Paralegal cum Patent Executive
“From a small seed a mighty trunk may grow”. Zi Yu graduated from the University of London with an honours degree in Law. With his extensive intellectual property knowledge during his study, he then joined one of the leading IP consulting firms in Malaysia, INTELLECT as a patent and industrial design specialist. His role in the company with no doubt involves delivering his professionalism in IP consultation and IP management.
He is responsible in advising local and foreign clients on IP protection, conducting searches, reviewing and providing the patentability and infringement opinions, developing and formulating strategies to protect clients’ IP according to their IP needs, as well as drafting and prosecuting applications in their best interest. His patent drafting experience covers broad range of technologies.
He also manages patent portfolios, both domestically and internationally for multinational corporations and universities. He provides one stop solution or management service to clients to such an extent that they are worry-free on their IPs status. He frequently consults IP officers and is up-to-date with changes in Malaysian IP law and practice.
Cheryl has working experience in the legal field for more than 10 years and she is currently the IP Manager at Intellect Worldwide. She is leading the operation team and responsible for overseeing the operation and ensuring that businesses run efficiently, consistently high levels of service, profitability, and compliance of our internal SOP standard to meet the ultimate customer satisfaction.
“Started from scratch to an expert no match”. Stanley joined Intellect in 2009 with scarce knowledge on Intellectual Property (IP) as he was a Business Administration (Honours) graduate from UTAR.
Such did not deter him from accumulating the knowledge and experiences over the years and climbing the corporate ladder. He now leads the Trademark Operation Division in handling trademark registrations, objection, hearing, opposition, litigation and Copyright matters. He is also a familiar face at the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO) following up complicated matters with the Registrar, attending Ex-parte Hearings and etcetera.
Although operation tasks are his forte, nonetheless he has also dealt with several large corporations to ensure that the clients’ IP need is fully attended to and protected, namely Extra Excel Sdn. Bhd., H.O.L. Chain Store (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. (a.k.a. House of Leather), Royal County of Berkshire Polo Club Ltd, Luxury Sleep (M) Sdn. Bhd. and various other property developers in Malaysia.
Stanley is also a Certified Professional Trainer under Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF) who is specializes in training related to trademark and copyright. Adding to that, he also adds the title of a Registered Trade Mark Agent in Malaysia to its belt of achievements.

The pioneer and the longest with the firm, Siew Siew is a seasoned Intellectual Property Director at Intellect.
One of the most dedicated staff that pioneered the Intellect Group along with its co-founders, her hands-on IP practice has been enhanced and consolidated when she attended an IP management trainers’ course conducted in Japan by the Japan Patent Office and she is also a PSMB certified professional trainer. Siew Siew is highly well-versed with local and overseas Trademark registration, as well as experienced in helping companies identify their needs in patent and industrial design registration.
Her friendly approach manner and strong communication skills make her a highly effective front-liner for the Intellect Group, often being the first point of reference for companies who need to gain an insight into IP and the services provided.
Her efficient and swift follow-up manners have been a strong contributing factor to the high levels of client satisfaction enjoyed by the Intellect Group over the years.
Alex is a specialist in the area of Intellectual Property with more than 10 years of experience. Started in the Trade Mark Department and thereafter leading the department himself and ever since then he found the passion to guide clients in protecting and maximising their Intellectual Property, Alex now leads the IPBIZ Department in Kuala Lumpur.
As a Registered Trade Mark Agent armed with Bachelor of Law LL.B (Hons) from the University of Northumbria, Alex’s trained legal mind and coupled with his vast experience, he had successfully assisted investors in obtaining strong Intellectual Property registrations that provide broader scope of exclusivity and commercializing their assets.

Jane joined Intellect in 2014 as an Accounts and Admin Executive. Jane ably handles Company Accounts which includes accounting management, financial reporting, internal and external auditing procedures, and tax related matters. She supervises, directs and coordinates the daily activities of the Accounts Department and works with the Management Team to evaluate and improve internal accounting processes to ensure that practices are in line with Company goals and policy.
