Intan graduated from University Malaysia of Pahang (UMP) with a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering. She then joined Intellect Group of IP Companies, one of the largest intellectual property consulting firms in northern region, as a patent engineer. Her expertise in the area of chemical engineering has garnered extensive experience in all substantive matters of intellectual property. At Intellect, her extensive knowledge in chemical engineering has provided invaluable technical knowledge in conducting freedom-to-operate searches and assisting clients in their IP needs related notably to chemical inventions. As a patent engineer, her responsibilities further include analysing inventions, conducting novelty searches in various technical fields, research their economic potential, writing and interpreting of many technical reports, evaluating patentability level of the inventions and providing patentability advice to clients, performing interview with an inventor, interpreting the scope of a new invention, preparing and prosecuting patent applications, amending patent drafts as well as preparing submissions of arguments and amendments persuasively in response to patentability objections during substantive examination, for both local and overseas patent applications.
Remarkably, she has achieved a high success rate in overcoming the office actions arose during examination. As patent engineer, Intan is also responsible to oversees the full life cycle development of all patents and advise companies on different aspects of intellectual property law as well as technical knowledge. Intan’s vast experience in intellectual property industry is put to good use in advising clients from other industries besides chemical inventions. She has been advising clients from various industries, including but not limited to, the automotive, manufacturing, electrical instrument, mechanical and chemical trades.
Intan also has the portfolios in providing administrative and engineering support, in an effort to efficiently work through the patent application process, and managing and monitoring patent application status whereby she will always keep an update and follow up closely with the patent registrar and to make sure the patent applications always fulfil the requirements of patent regulations and acts and to ensure that clients are worry-free of their IPs.
